JINJA- UGANDA/ NEWSDAY: A former Minister in the Milton Obote I regime, Mathias Mbalule Ngobi has died.
Ngobi was Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives during the 1960s in the Obote 1 regime.
He was also Minister of Local government under Yusuf Lule and again a Minister of Agriculture under Prof Godfrey Lukongwa Binaisa.
Ngobi has been a resident of Namulesa, Butembe, Jinja.
He was also a Member of Parliament for Butembe in the 1960s. During President Museveni’s era, Ngobi served as a member of the Constituent Assembly.
He is acclaimed for his dedicated and deligent service to numerous Boards and Councils.
To Ugandan Farmers, Mathias Ngobi and his other colleague J B Isabirye were named “the fathers of Cooperatives in Uganda.”
Burial arrangements will be announced.
