MAYUGE-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The viral video that circulated on Sunday in which civilians are fighting with a policeman and other armed men has been traced in Mayuge District at Musubi landing site.
It has been confirmed by police that one man died as a result of the shooting and two others injured.
At around 9:25am at Musubi landing site ,Miyanzi village, Bukabooli sub county in Mayuge district , the officer in charge (OC) of Musubi Police Post, Cpl Wandyete, a 51 year old and his colleague PC Kataba Abdallah received information of theft of a motor boat engine.
They rushed to the scene. When Cpl Wandyete arrested the suspect, one of them called Bampalana grabbed the gun from the OC and removed the magazine while another man Kapere Maka Umar also grabbed another gun from PC Kataba.
In the scuffle Cpl Wandyege released three bullets one of which injured the Bampalana and another, Osako who is the owner of the stolen boat engine. Osako was injured by the hand and another a brother to suspect also injured.
Kapere Maka Umar died of his wounds while other victims were rushed to Nankoma health centre IV.
Bampalana’s body has been taken to Mayuge Health Centre III for post mortem, according to the DPC of MAyuga Bashir Sibira.
