KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The case in which city Business Francis Matovu aka Bbuto ,NUP’s Moses Bigirwa journalists Pidson Kareire and Moses Mugarura are accused of annoying the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has been pushed up to 10th January 2022.
The four are accused of being behind a dossier in which the Deputy Speaker is alleged to have engaged in corruption tendencies, Abuse of office, illicit acquisition off wealth among others and also authoring a whistleblower’s document calling upon the IGG to investigate Among’s acts.
Buganda road court Chief Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu noted that investigations into the matter were not complete although the state attorney was not in court to update of the status of the case.
Among was reported to the Inspector General of Government by whistleblowers who claimed she was stunningly corrupt and unfit to hold her role as deputy speaker.
“Among has no moral authority to preside over a people’s assembly when she is a leading violator of the law,” the petitioner says in a petition to the Inspector General of Government (IGG) who has been asked to undertake a forensic investigation of the deputy speaker.
Earlier Among was accused of corruption in an anonymous dossier.
Part of the accusations, the deputy speaker is said in the period preceding becoming Deputy Speaker of parliament is accused by one Gidagui Gregory and illegally selling off and selling to him forest land comprising BLOCK 113 PLOT 555 Namanve at Shs. 6bn.
