KAGADI-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: A male lion had already eaten dozens of livestock before locals in Kagadi in a distress messege contacted the Uganda Wild Life Authority (UWA) teams on Friday afternoon.
UWA dispatched its trusted snippers but the lion had already been enraged, on rampage to counter anyone who tried to stop it.
An officer, thinking he would deter the primate attempted to shoot it down, only for the lion to manouvre faster than it’s victim’s bullets, wrestling the soldiers down and injuring him severally to near death.
Luckily, the UWA team had deployed adquately. One of the deployees, seeing a colleague already downed by the lion, aimed and without missing, killed the lion instantly- with two bullets.
Later on the UWA in a statement said  the lion was last sighted about 30KM from Muhoro Town  translocating and yesterday attemots were to take it to a protected area.
One UPDF soldier Cpl Amodoi Moses sighted the lion and tried to shoot it but it jumped on skinned it and shared the meat.
UWA said staff pleas to handle the carcass fell on deaf ears and immediately the lion was shot dead, communities that were in pursuit of the lion quickly  they were overpowered by the crowd.
“They only managed to secure the skin and the head him seriously injuring him in the process. Another UPDF soldier nearbyshot the lion dead to save his colleague.” UWA said in a statement.
Earlier, false claims had made rounds that the man in the picture above and the entire lion invasion incident had taken place in Iganga, yet actually it was in Kagadi
