Release them without charge, Kabaka orders Katikkiro Mayiga after arrest of Royal Army.

KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY. Members of Kabaka army, Abambowa were freed Monday after their foiled raid to oust Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga’s administration and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldiers.

Close palace sources have told Newsday Kabaka Ronald Mutebi, after learning about the arrest of the Royal army, ordered Mr. Mayiga to ensure the members of the Royal army are freed without charge.

The source added that after Kabaka’s order, Mr. Mayiga relayed the message to the Minister of Security and Culture, Mr. Kyewalabye Male who liaised with military and police authorities and the Abambowa were released on Monday evening, hours after their detention.

Abambowa’s arrest on Monday followed their raid at the main gate of Bulange, the headquarters of Buganda Kingdom were they waved a purported letter from the Kabaka orgering a halt to all activities within Bulange and all royal sites.

“We have halted all activities within Bulange and the palace. Abambowa are henceforth directed to take over all security matters,” the letter read.

But Mengo via its social media sited immediately rubbished the letter advising “ladies and gentlemen to disregard the trending document. Its fake.”

But a quick response from the commander of the military Royal Guards, Maj. Lutwaama Musaazi enabled the arrest of the Abambowa.
