KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: With just seven days left to the Kabaka birhday Marathon, a faction of forrune seekers at Mengo’ have deployed a spinning machinery that is failingly gambling to reassure the public and sponsor Airtel that the Kabaka will flag off the run next Sunday on April 16.
The spinners through proxies spent much of Sunday circulating old photos of the Kabaka entertaining children and they labelled this Kabaka’s day on Easter, a falsehood that was easily noticed and dustbinned.
Earlyin the morning they released a photograph of the Kabaka walking past a group of people while he was being followed by guards and dogs in what they called an Easter morning jogging exercise by the Monarch.
But during Kabaka’s jogging sessions, he does not parade his officials as it noticed on a man who stood by wearing a gown while other women were seen in a group uniform.
The half baked spinners are attempting to reassure the public that all is well have since been criticised for deploying poor easily detectable photos.
Mid last week, Mengo released an old photo that appeared to.show the Kabaka moving through Entebe Airport and behind him the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga.
The negative health reports about the Kabaka have raised concerns with some people alleging poison as the cause while the official account by the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga is that Kabaka is suffering from Allergy.
Online sites are being dupped into using the photos as if they are fresh.
The intention of peddling old photos is to lure Kabaka’s subjects into purchasing the marathon kits. Sources within Mengo say that this year’s marathon, despite all the publicity it has received, has not attracted people because they are unsure whether the Kabaka will be present to flag them off.
Kabaka’s birthday run is Uganda’s top run part of whose proceeds the Kabaka has dedicated to solving health challenges ranging from fisitula to AIDs although only under 10 percent of the proceeds is released by officials for this purporse.
