DNA shocks Samona,10 children not his

KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Two minister, four city tycoons have been confirmed among 32 men petitioning for change of children’s details after DNA tests revealed they were not the biological fathers.

This comes after news emerged barely a month ago when cosmetics and property mogul Ssalongo Kasawuli Mukasa aka Samona had 10 out of his 25 children rejected by DNA tests as being his biological children.

The ministry of internal affairs announced on Monday that 32 men had already petitioned the directorate of citizenship and immigration control to have details of children attached to them changed after DNA results revealed no relationship between the fathers and children.

Our independent investigations reveal that the list includes two prominent ministers and four business tycoons dealing in importation of good from Asia. One man has been living in the United Kingdom. We will name them at an appropriate moment.

Simon Mundeyi, the ministry spokesperson, told media on Monday the men who had applied and secured passports for their wives and children have now made a U-turn following non-matching DNA test results.

The official said, for them to cancel the passports of the children, the parents have to first go to National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) to change the details.

Mundeyi quoted an example of one man who reportedly checked the DNA samples of his six children. The results showed no match between him and the children.

“When the results were out, he contested them, but being a person of means, we advised him to take samples to other labs. He took some samples to Canada and others to South Africa. All the samples confirmed what our lab had found out – none of the six children was his,” the official said.

He added that some men had taken DNA test results to their office and were advised to use the Government Analytical Lab.

More details of the top tycoons and politicians who did the DNA tests will be availed soon.
