KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Officials from the Ugandan embassy in Sudan have been tasked with explaining why none of them turned up to support a delegation that was in Khartoum to attend the Sudan-Uganda Tourism and Trade Expo.
Details have since emerged that the expo which run from Tuesday to Friday did not receive any support from the embassy there even after receiving a notification to accord the organisers the necessary support.
News from the corridors indicates that Gen Salim Saleh, the Coordinator of OWC, has since written a strong email to the embassy demanding an explanation why the delegation did not receive support.
A delegation of farmers from the various cooperative unions were sponsored by Operation Wealth Creation to go and interact with product buyers in Sudan.
Close to 50 delegates landed in Khartoum in Tuesday and had a successful expo where samples of Ugandan agricultural products were showcased.
As a result, several deals to supply cereals and fruits were negotiated and sealed.
However, it has emerged that none of the officials from the embassy turned up for the event. This website has since learnt that the ambassador had travelled to Uganda at the time, leaving his deputy and other officials in charge.
