LUWEERO-UGANDA/NEWSDAY:One of the people who reportedly announced the “death” of President Yoweri Museveni has been tracked and taken into police custody, in a wide operation intended to get all those who circulated the news.

The arrest of Jamir Ssekyondwa, a 22 year-old youth from Luweero on Friday follows President Museveni’s directive to security agents to “to get those idiots who announced me dead”.

The false news of  Museveni’s death caused mixed reactions on social media with some people jubilating yet a majority of the President’s diehards remained silent.

During the swearing-in ceremony of the sixteen Ministers who had missed out recently, on Thursday at Kololo independence grounds, Museveni said that security must sort out the social media false news.

“Those who are in Uganda will be tracked and arrested and we shall denounce those who are in the diaspora, send them to hell,”Museveni said.

At the time Ssekyondwa was arrested, an analogue phone was recovered on reportedly containing messages related to Museveni’s alleged death.

The acting DPC of Luweero District Patrick Maikula said Ssekyondwa is being detained at Luweero Central Police station.

“We are tracking down all those who circulated the false news on the President,” Maikula said.
