KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Kasempe.North MP Mohammad Ssegirinya has been summoned over Masaka machete murders.

Investigations into the killings in greater Masaka have widened to politicians and the first suspect is Kawempe North MP Mohammad Ssegirinya.

That directorate of criminal investigations (CID) has sent Ssegirinya summons to appear at Masaka police station on Monday.

“CID is investigating murders that took place in Greater Masaka in the months of July and August. This serves as summons to appear at Masaka police station on 6th September 2021” summons sent to Ssegirinya through the speaker on Friday reads. Senior detective Katto Tumuhimbise signed the summons.

He is expected to appear at 10am.
Last week president Museveni said they had known the people behind the machete killers. Information minister Chris Baryomunsi said politicians were connected to the killers.

At least 30 people were killed over the past four months in greater Masaka. Threats have this week spread to Lubaga in Kampala and Mityana district.
