A woman, one of the gangsters in spreading counterfeits has been arrested in Mbale city.

Rashid Mudebo a resident of Namanyonyi in Mbale City and Jacqueline Anzilim a Kenyan National from Busia were arrested on Friday near ABSA Bank in Mbale City in an operation led by the Mbale District Police Commander Arafat Kato.

The suspects were found in a vehicle Mark II Reg. Number UBH 377F which they use in their mission.

When the vehicle was searched, police recovered huge amounts of US Dollar notes, master keys, handkerchiefs sprayed with chloroform and other equipment used for breaking padlocks.

“We received intelligence information that the two were planning to sell the fake currencies to Banks and unsuspecting people in the area,” Kato said.

They are currently held at Mbale Central Police Station.

The suspects will be transferred to Kampala for detailed questioning.
