Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has disputed the talk of poison as causing Kabaka Mutebi’s illness instead it is the covid19 masks that are exercebating the problem.

Mr. Mayiga was Friday addressing the press for the first time in a year about the health of Kabaka for which questions were first raised in July last year.

“We all face health challenges from time to  time. And they need to be effectively managed and in the Kabaka’s case, the challenges are related to allergies which when they attack him cause breathing difficulties especially when he has a mask or a shield over his face,” Mayiga said.

He added that those who saw and attended the Kabaka’s birth day on April 13 at Mengo palace may have witnessed that the Kabaka’s despotition was different from that his subjects and the general public are used to.

“The allergies are being effectively managed by the appropriate medical teams.”Mayiga said.

The rumors doing rounds, that the Kabaka was poisoned, he said are totally false.

” I would also like to dispel rumors being posted on different social media platforms, they are baseless and should be disregarded otherwise they will cause undue anxiety “Mayiga said and assured Ugandans that the Kabaka’s condition is being handled with great expertise.

He also confirmed a Newsday article published on Thursday that Kabaka Mutebi went shopping at Capital Shoppers in Ntinda.

“Yes the Kabaka does that whenever he chooses. He sometimes do shopping personally and that wasn’t the first time,” Mayiga said.

Asked whether he had been sacked he responded “I am here and working under the guidance of the King”.
He warned that social media is sometimes misleading with blog owners recklessly uploading information that is not verified.
