The Ministry of Health has organised a mass vaccination camp at Kololo independence ground starting tommorow May 31 ahead of the expiry of the Astra Zenac vaccines that were brought into the country in March.
The camp according to the ministry will also enable people access the vaccine easily in an exercise that will run for ten days.
Those going for the vaccine have been strictly advised to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including using facemasks, proper hand hygiene and maintaining social distance.
In March mass vaccination of a selected group of prone Ugandans started after 964,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were donated by Covax and the Indian government.
Government targets to vaccinate 4.8m citizens but this number may change according to the entry of the new variants. Only 577,036 people have so been vaccinated.
Since March last year 1.100.350 tests have been conducted.
29 schools in 17 districts have since reported cases.
On Saturday alone 690 cases have been reported.
Cumulatively, 46,623 cases have been reported.
43,401 have recovered.
Deaths stand at 362 persons.
