COVID-19: Radio stations asked to avoid dates of burials during announcements

Radio Stations in Kabale District have been asked to avoid announcing the dates for burial ceremonies so that to implement the twenty person-to-attend Presidential directive.

The request by Kabale Resident District commissioner Mr. Darius Nandida is contained in a letter to all Radio Stations dated June 18, 2020.

“The District Task Force on Covid19 has noted with concern that when you communicate the date for burial while reading death announcements, many people get the information and tend to attend in big numbers hence flouting President’s directives on scientific burials,” Nandida stated.

Adding; “This is very dangerous in that it escalates the spread of the deadly pandemic virus. This is therefore to request you as partners in the fight against the pandemic that when reading you should avoid mentioning the dates for burials so that scientific burial directive is implemented”.
