WAKISO-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: President Museveni is due to address the country on Saturday on whether the nation will remain closed or released during his address on Saturday.

“The President will address the nation this Saturday July 31 at 8pm on covid19 and any other related issues,” Lindah Nabusaayi his press secretary tweeted on Tuesday morning.

The address will be live on major TVs and Radios countrywide.

Ugandans have suffered with businesses collapsing and banks confiscating mortgages of borrowers after a failing economy exacerbated by Covid19. The education system has also suffered a blow with some pupils nearing two years without attending school.

The country has been in a lockdown for nearly twelve weeks after the escalation of the second wave of Covid19. To achieve complete release of the nation, the President in one of his addresses said at least twenty one million Ugandan would have been vaccinated but nothing towards this has been done yet.

Only 1.1m people have received jabs since March this year.
