KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The former owner Mr. Peter Kamya of Ssimbamanyo, now renamed by new owner Sudhir Ruperellia as Gender &Labour House is in another jeopardy after court ordered him to pay billions of money in fines.

A latest judgment by Justice David Wangutsi found him Mr. Kamya guilty of selling a piece of land at Munyonyo to two people that led to the first buyer who had deposited Shs.1.3bn to lose his money.

In 2020, tycoon Sudhir acquired Ssimbamanyo building after a disputed case between Kamya and Equity bank.

Now in the latest incident court has agreed with, Bahamas Investment in their suit in the High court, seeking recovery of Shs.1.3bn paid to Kamya to purchase a property at Block 255 Plots 126 and 213 in Munyonyo.

Bahamas and Kamya had agreed to a total transaction of Shs.5bn. Under unkown circumstances, Kamya is alleged to have sold the land to a third party.

In Wangtusi’s judgement, Kamya has been ordered to pay Shs.1.3bn with and interest of 25 percent and the general damages of the suit.
