KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY; The Permanent secretary/ secretary to the treasury, Ramadhan GGoobi has sacked a total of 110 chief executive officers –CAOs and municipal town clerks countrywide.

In his July 7, letter to the Permanent secretary ministry of Local government Ggoobi accused the affected accounting officers of failure to comply with the public finance management Act of 2015 to submit their annual budgets of 2022/23 within the required time frame.

”To date, while all central government votes have submitted their approved budget estimates, work plans and procurement plans, and performance contracts, only 66 local government votes have submitted their respective budget details for FY2022/23. This is delaying budget commencement and shall delay service delivery,” Ggoobi wrote.CANCELLATION OF APPOINTMENT OF ACCOUNTING OFFICERS FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT VOTES FOR FY 2022-23

He said that given such breach, ”I am proceeding with cancellation of appointment of all non-compliant local government accounting officers for FY 2022/23,”.
