KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: An Indian businessman only identified as Uttam Bhandari has been shot dead Raja Chambers near Parliament.

The incident 1:30pm and police has cordoned off the crime scene.

Mr. Uttam Bhandari has been popular among Parliamentarians for his soft loan terms.

Itv has emerged that a Police constable Ivan Wabwiire who shot and killed a money lender of Indian origin, Uttam Bhandari, the director of TFS Financial Services near Yako Bank at Raja Chambers along Parliamentary Avenue.

Wabwire is said to have fired three bullets at Bhandari, at about 1.30 pm on Friday.

Police said Wabwire acquired a loan from TFS in 2020 and had reportedly come to get a quotation to take to an unidentified bank so that the bank buys off his loan. It is unclear what transpired between the two and led to the shooting.

“A man just walked into a money lender’s office here at Raja chamber, shot an Indian guy dead and then walked out. I just heard bullets next to me. Yes, our office wall is the separator,” the message shared on social media platforms read in part.

Wabwire reportedly arrived on motorcycle and left using the same after the gruesome act. He dropped off his killer gun at the Kampala Central police station (CPS) before disappearing.

The latest murders comes only six days apart from that of Isma Olaxes and ten days from that of former Junior Minister Charles Engola.
