Court heard on Monday 3,2025 that Jassy Talemwa allegedly obtained the said money from Mr Bamwagala Michael falsely pretending that he was going to process the replacement of his lost National Identity Card in one week.

Taremwa 28, a resident of Balintuma-Mengo in Lubaga Division was immediately arrested by the no nonsense State House AntiCorruption Unit officials working with Uganda police and was later charged for btaining Money by False Pretence.

According to prosecution, the incident occured on 30th/January/2025 when the complainant went to NIRA Offices on Lumumba Avenue and approached an officer who issues Identification cards and the official there told him if he wanted it very fast he should pay 250,000shs.

However the complainant saw this as a corruption tendency and decided to proceed to State House AntiCorruption Unit to complain; and a trap was laid for him which led to his arrest.

He has however denied the charges before Presiding Grade One Magistrate Niyonzima Alex who remanded him to Luzira prison until 6th/February/2025 .

The suspect had however asked for a bail but Prosecution’s Amy Grace; informed Court that she couldn’t respond to Taremwa’s bail application before verifying the residences of the 3 people who have stood Surity for him.
