The Government on Sunday saluted the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and Her Royal Highness the Nabagereka for receiving their first dose of Astra Zenac Covid19 against the deadly disease.
“For those who still had any doubt our leaders for gave assurance. We thank the royals for their exemplary leadership,” ICT minister Judith Nabakooba said in press conference on Sunday.
Kabaka Mutebi, the Nabagereka and their staff got immunised this week, a move that strengthened the call for Ugandans to get their jabs.
“We now know that suspension of curfew is going to depend on how quickly we all show up for vaccination” Nabakooba said.
“I therefore call upon all those in the categories defined by government to show up and get vaccinated. We have been assured by Ministry of Health that more vaccines are expected in the country soon,” Nabakooba said.
She however said that before more vaccines are demanded, ” we quickly need to utilize the doses we received last month”.
She asked Ugandans to continue observing the guidelines by Ministry of Health even after vaccination including washing hands with soap all the time, wearing the face mask and maintaining social distance all the time.
Uganda received at least a million doses in donations last month.
