Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has told the council of Buganda Kingdom’s clan heads (Abattaka)-In picture above that the Kabaka will not be taken abroad for specialized treatment because local doctors were working well.

Mr. Mayiga met with the Abattaka on Wednesday at Bulange Mengo for at least an hour after they sought official comments on the health of the Kabaka.

“He told us there was no need to panic and that Kabaka won’t be taken abroad because he is responding well to available treatment,” one of the Abattaka who attended the meeting told Newsday on Thursday.

The ill health of the Kabaka has been a subject of public debate since it emerged ten days ago during his 66th birthday celebrations at Lubiri Mengo that he was unwell.

But on April 15th Mr. Mayiga said that the Kabaka was being disturbed by an allergy- disputing suggestions he had been poisoned.

In the meeting the council of clan heads who were represented by five individuals proposed a meeting with Kabaka Mutebi to commiserate with him about his ill health.

The Abattaka proposed that if the illness of the Kabaka persists, they have traditional means to apply in order to heal the King.

“We can use things like “ekiwubiiro” to extract impurities from the body. It looks like a horn and it sucks out like suction or a vacuum cleaner to remove impurities. We can also use clay mixed with herbs (emmumbwa) as well as calling out our spiritual healers,” another source said.

In the meeting, Mr. Mayiga repeated that the Kabaka was suffering from allergies and that because he was responding well to treatment, he had resumed his morning jogging around his Kireka palace.

The officials who represented their colleagues in a meeting with Katikkiro Mayiga included; Omutaka Namwama Augustine Kizito Mutumba (the chair of the council), Omutaka Muteesaasira (of Engo clan), Omutaka Nsamba (Engabi clan), Omutaka Kidimbo and Ssaababiito of Kibulala.
