LUWERO-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The man accused of announcing President Museveni dead has been charged in the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Luweero District and remanded.
Mr. Jamil Ssekyondwa a 23-year-old man is suspected of sending falsified text messages to different persons in which he indicated President Museveni was dead on July 7, 2021 while at Kabunyata trading center in Kamira Sub County, Luweero.
Prosecuted by State Attorney, Ms Peace Bashabe before Luweero Chief Magistrate, Mr Samuel Munobe, and the accused was charged him with offensive communication contrary to Section 25 of the Computer Misuse Act 2011. Ssekyondwa denied the charges
Ssekyondwa also apparently used offending and abusive words indicating that the “dog (Museveni) was dead and that he was very happy.
Ssekyondwa was arrested on Friday last week after President Museveni’s complaint against people who misuse social media.
A hunt for other bloggers including those abroad is on. These include Fred Kajubi Lumbuye based in Turkey, two Sweden based bloggers Eddie Messiah and Peng Peng; Uganda based Jakana Nadduli also son of NRM stalwart Alhaji Abdul Nadduli, Kojja Omugezi based in Ireland and others are all to be arrested “as wherever and soon as spotted”.
