Passengers disguised as cargo arrested from lorry

WAKISO-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Fourteen people have been arrested packed in a lorry for transport to Mbarara city in contravention of a presidential directive barring cross boarder transport.

They were intercepted at Nabbingo on Monday afternoon.

“Our Police has today afternoon intercepted a motor vehicle UBJ 803P,” Police deputy spokesperson Luke Oweyesigire said.

He said that the lorry was search  and 14 people were found inside the vehicle .

“When we interrogated  the suspects they said they were being charged between Shs 50.000 and Shs 150.000” Oweyesigire said.
