KYANKWANZI: Legislators and other National Resistance Movement officials who have been camping at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi for more than a week got the shock of their life when they were dismissed without any handshake.

Details emerging from the retreat indicate that party chairman dismissed the yellow brigade without any cash handout unlike the previous meetings where they would leave while smiling from ear to ear.

Our reliable source indicated that despite expectations of up to sh30m per MP, Museveni’s financial handler Jane Barekye said she was broke.

“Food was in plenty as well as drinks. But when it came to the usual handshake, the bag was empty,” the source said.

The ruling party leaders have been at a retreat where among other things they discussed Project Muhoozi, corruption, Parish Development Model and party cohesion.

Sources add that the question of sole candidature for 2026 presidential race was tactically avoided even as some MPs tried to bring it up.
